Subject: Has the union told you about dues?

Dear colleagues,

Most staff are likely aware that unions typically require its members to pay dues. But do you know for sure how much AFSCME DC47 would expect you to pay each month, each year, and over the term of a contract?

This handout includes information about dues, how they are deducted directly from your paycheck, and that you may be required to pay dues just to keep your job. The information also points out that union dues are used to pay a select group of coworkers more than $10,000 to be officers of the union.

Given DC47’s inability to secure better pay increases for its current members and successfully resolve topics important to Penn Libraries staff, we encourage you to consider if it makes sense to unionize and pay DC47 every month.

You can find this information and more at Facts4PennLibraries.org.
